About the Feed-In Tariff
The Feed In Tariff was brought in by the Government to help increase the level of renewable energy in the UK.
Feed-In Tariffs (also known as FITs) are part of the Clean Energy Cashback Scheme, which pays people for creating their own "green electricity".
There is also a Renewable Heat Incentive Scheme, for heating.
The Main Benefits
- Generating your own electricity means you will have to buy much less back from your energy suppliers, so your electricity bills will reduce - often dramatically.
- By being more energy efficient, the less electricity you use yourself, the more you can sell back to the national grid for which you will receive extra payment.
- Electricity bills have seen a rise in recent years and it is expected that they could rise by a further 60%. This will have far less impact on renewable energy customers.
- Reducing your carbon footprint.
